Blog # 1

I had no idea what I wanted to write about this week until Wednesday night. It never fails that I always happen to come home the same time as church rush hour and then it hit me I have my blog topic! Strange how those things happen huh! I decided to write about the community that happens to be the closest to me and yet I know the lease about. This is the City of Oak Grove, which I have lived in for about two years. Most people have never even herd of Oak Grove or do not know where it is. Oak Grove is a very small community that has a population of 7,353 people, and is only 36 square miles in size. The cities that sit around Oak Grove are Nowthen, Saint Francis, Ham Lake, and Andover. There are not a lot of things in Oak Grove just a couple of gas stations, and "O Yea," the church!! The rush hour that I was talking about comes from, The Church of St. Patrick of Cedar Creek; the amount of people that attend that church is amazing. I really think that it is the staple of the community and it just happens to be right next to the Oak Grove City Hall and about a mile from my house. Now these are all things that I knew about Oak Grove so I had to dig deeper to really find the heart of the Oak Grove. There were a lot of little tid bits that I found out that I thought were really cool and didn't know about. Of all the things that I found out what I am most excited and proud of is the way that our community supports each other, especially our youth. What I am getting to is The Oak Grove Scholarship Pageant!! Who knew that we had that I love it! This just goes to show you how even the smallest of communities can really make a difference in every one of its members lives.

Well I think that I went a little bit over on my words but I still could have said more!! I am looking forward to everyone's comments, questions, and especially your suggestions!! Hope to hear from everyone soon!! Bye : )

Okay about the word count. Good job on the assignment. Take care with spelling, though!

I agree. Also, go abck and check the punctuation once you're done with the writing.
I can see from your writing that, although you don't know as much about your community as you would like to, you love the place enough to get to know it.

I thought your original description of Oak Grove was interesting, the bit about the church was pretty descriptive! What sources did you use, though?

So are you going to enter the Oak Grove Scholarship Pageant? How much money can you win? How many people can win? Do all contestants have to be from Oak Grove?

It was a nice acount of the place you live. Oak grove seems like a nice town. I think it is neet when a small town can still exist when surrounded by big towns. Just a little fish in the bog ol' sea.

Oak Grove does sound nice and I liked the details you gave about it. What larger cities is it close to?

Well i used to live in Andover and Ham Lake, and both times literally a few streets away from the Oak Grove border. I also went to St. Francis High School, so i could really connect with your blog. But to tell you the truth I never really knew that much about Oak Grove.

I like how you are presented your community. But you could have added a little bit more detail.

I'm with you on Oak Grove. I pass through it a lot (My mom works at the Qwest building out there) and yet it seems like there is nothing there except a few houses. Your description of it makes me want to cruise through town a little to check it out, though.
